Stockholm will be the "Green Capital of Europe" in 2010

The European Commission summed up the competition for the title of "Green Capital of Europe" next year, which was attended by 35 European cities. Determined that in 2010 the Green Capital will become Stockholm.
"Four out of five Europeans now live in an urban environment, the city is a place where the environmental problems facing mankind, seen especially clearly. Thanks to its efforts to reduce air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, improvement of sewage and garbage, to combat congestion Stockholm may be a benchmark for the rest of Europe ", - considers the European Commissioner Stavros Dimos.
In the short-list awards for the title of "Green Capital of Europe" with the Stockholm competed Amsterdam, Bristol, Copenhagen, Freiburg, Münster and Oslo. In 2011, the title of the "Green Capital" will move to Hamburg.
